Upcoming Show...Out of My Range March 9-10, 2013

 http://tcgmc.org/music-merchandise/out-of-my-range/
Our next show "Out of My Range (and Other Age-Related Performance Issues)" was first performed by the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus as a specially commissioned piece.  The Book is by Micael Shaieb and Brent Lord.  The Music and lyrics are by Michael Shaieb.  HOAMC will be the first chorus to perform it since the TCGMC performed it in March of 2012 and at the GALA Choruses Festival in Denver in July of 2012.  The show is a heavily stylized piece and is being somewhat retooled for use by HOAMC.

The following is a summary of the show...

The applause has barely faded, and the Chorus is already back at work on their next concert.  Members old and young start the rehearsal process all over again (THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL) with new music and new members pushing the Chorus range as performers and as people.  We peek in at stops along a "Concert Preparation Period" and catch comedic and often revealing glimpses into the generational dynamics at play in everyday events of Chorus life:  the vocal exercise that starts every rehearsal (WARMUPS), the advice directed at younger members (ODE TO MY TWENTIES), a chance recruitment of a new member (COME ON WITH US), the dilemma of concert promotion in the workplace (A SIMPLE SOLUTION), a "choir"-ographry dance rehearsal (LIKE MINDED PEOPLE), and the many facets of a simple weekend gathering (ANOTHER SOCIAL). Despite some age-related challenges (DIFFERENCES), nothing is out of their range when the Chorus comes together to sing.  Their diverse perspectives (30 YEARS AGO, a conversation) blend together in harmony to conquer the nerves of Opening Night (FINALE), with the Chorus growing a little bit better together.

It’s a Chorus Fundraiser hosted by “Glitzy” Boo Boo, “Sweet Biscuit” Boo Boo and “Poodle” Boo Boo. All bingo proceeds go to the Chorus and the Grand Blackout Prize is a brand new TV! It’s hosted by our good friends at RAIN CAFÉ and LOUNGE, 518 East Douglas in beautiful downtown Wichita.

HOAMC Performs at Botanica

On Saturday, December 15th, the Heart of America Men's Chorus performed at Botanica's "Illuminations."  A large crowd gathered to watch the chorus perform old Christmas favorites as well as some numbers from the recent "Let It Snow" concert on December 8th and 9th.  The chorus members provided an opportunity for you to hear them a cappella, since there wasn't any instrumental accompaniment.  The chorus received many compliments (thank goodness...we hope we sound good!) and fun was had by all.
